With the divine blessings of our Paramatmas and guidance of our Gurujis, the Jain Center of New Jersey has embarked on a project to construct a new temple in Franklin Township, New Jersey.

Location:
The site for the temple is located in central New Jersey, about 1 mile off Exit 10 on I 287, which is a major north-south highway in the state. Situated on the southbound side of Cedar Grove Lane, the site occupies an area of 9.6 acres. The site is ideally located in a very desirable surrounding.

Description of the Full Project: 
When fully completed, the project will include three buildings – Derasar (it is called Sanctuary in the official plans), Prayer Hall Building and a Caretaker House. The total area of the full project is about 51,000 square feet. A large parking lot with a capacity for over 320 cars has already been constructed in 2004 by our center.

The Derasar will have our traditional design and a total area of about 6,000 square feet. It includes Ghabharas for Pratimajis, Bhamati with installation of 24 Pratimajis, Shikhars, Rang Mandap and a partial basement.

The Prayer Hall Building will have two floors with a total area of about 42,000 square feet. The upper floor of the building will contain a large assembly hall, dedicated areas for Digambar, Sthanakwasi and Shrimad Rajchandra traditions and Pathshala rooms. The lower floor will have a dining hall, kitchen, additional Pathshala rooms, audio/video room and library.

Care Taker House: 
The Caretaker House is a two-story building with a total area of about 3,000 square feet.

Two Phases of the Project:

It is planned to construct the buildings in two phases.

In Phase 1, the Derasar and a connected Wing of the Prayer Hall Building will be built. The upper floor of the wing will have dedicated areas for Digambar, Sthanakwasi, Shrimad Rajchandra traditions and rest rooms with showers. The lower floor of the wing will have kitchen, eating area and storage. The total area of Phase 1 of the project is about 17,000 square feet.

Phase 2 will include completion of the remaining portion of the Prayer Hall Building containing the assembly hall, Pathshala rooms, dining hall, audio/video room and library; and the caretaker house. The total area of the Phase 2 of the project is about 34,000 square feet.
